Important Meeting Update (COVID-19)
Following the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemics we would like to inform the following:
1. For the moment, the 7th World Palm Symposium is still planned to be held at Rio de Janeiro on August 10-13, 2020 as there is still no current recommendations to cancel or postpone events booked for the second semester 2020. We are constantly monitoring updates from the local, national and international public health authorities regarding COVID-19 and this may change following their recommendations.
2. We recommend to include travel insurance to the airfare purchase and other reservations in order to minimize economic losses in case the event needs to be re-scheduled.
3. We will extend the early bird registration until two months (May 22nd) before the event up to a maximum of 120 places to give more time for people to make their final decision based on the progress of the COVID-19 in Brazil and their own countries. We are also offering a full refund of registration fees for people that are at higher risk of developing severe symptoms from COVID-19 (older adults and people with serious chronic medical conditions) if they decide not attending to the meeting.
The 7th edition of the World Palm Symposium will be held in Brazil, one of the most palm-rich countries of the world!
Rio de Janeiro is located within the Atlantic Forest range, a biome holding several (68 species) palm species, many of which are endemic.
It will be a fantastic opportunity to attend a conference with palm experts from all over the world, while at the same time visiting one of the most beautiful metropolis in the world, surrounded by rich palm communities and unique biodiverse forests.
